Fulfilling the wishes of Palliative Care Patients

Yoke Yue King has lung cancer, which has spread to her bones and has seriously impaired her mobility. Due to her love of nature and adventure, Yoke contacted Race4life with her wish to do something rather special with her children while she can. This week Race4life have arranged for Yoke, son Damien and daughter Tereece, who is visiting from overseas, to travel to White Island. In fulfilling Yoke’s wish, the family will take in some beautiful bush walks, experience a rail voyage with Awakeri Rail Adventures, gifted by Paul and Eve Francis, and to top it all off, embrace the awe and beauty of White Island, with Luke from Frontier Helicopters.

Whilst in transit they will be hosted by Garth and Louise at the Deckchair Café in Mt Maunganui. On arrival in Whakatane they will make their way to the Pacific Coast Motor Lodge, where they will be guests of Karenne and Wayne for two nights.

A huge thank you to;  Cookie and Andrea from Skippers Restaurant, Wayne from the Whakatane Sport Fishing Club, Monica at Julian’s Berry Farm and Café and Jono from Soulsa Restaurant.  Due to your kindness and generosity the family have many fabulous gastronomic adventures in store!!
