Fulfilling the wishes of Palliative Care Patients

Thomas and Abbey are a gorgeous couple who are planning to get married on February 21st in Christchurch. This very special couple have known each other for over 2 years, during which time Thomas received some very daunting news. The cancer that he had thought he had beaten had returned, after 9 years in remission, and his prognosis was not good. Nothing has fazed this courageous couple from just continuing with their plan for the future. Family members contacted the R4L Trust and asked for a little help with the honeymoon.

A few days in Hanmer Springs was the special request that Thomas and Abbey wished for. And what a response we got, when we approached the communities of both Hanmer Springs and Christchurch!! Gerard Gibbs from Corporate Cabs will pick them up from their home on the 23rd February and take them to Rydges in Latimer Square for brunch. Gerard will then take them to Hanmer Tours where Edwin will transport them in a shuttle to Hanmer Springs. At Hanmer they will be staying at the Heritage Hotel for two nights, provided with breakfast each morning and an evening meal at Isobel’s for the first night of their stay. They will dine for lunch at Robbie’s café and the Powerhouse Café while in Hanmer. The Hanmer Spa have gifted them special pampering treatments and an opportunity to return at any stage of their stay for a plunge in their beautiful thermal pools. No 31, a restaurant rated by Trip Advisor as one of the very best Eateries in the country, has offered to host this delightful couple for dinner on their final night in Hanmer. They return to Christchurch on Thursday 25th February compliments of Edwin and Hanmer Tours. It is truly sensational what two communities can do to provide priceless memories and truly make a difference in people’s lives.
