Fulfilling the wishes of Palliative Care Patients

Siologa Lemalu has MND ( Motor Neurone Disease). This very brave 68 year old man approached the Trust with a desire to have some time away with his wife Talie, daughter Nufe and grandson Roman. Waiheke Island was on the top of his list!!

The Waiheke folk have again responded to this wish with great kindness and compassion. Siologa and family left for Waiheke last evening (after picking up a breakfast hamper from Countdown Manurewa) and headed straight for Onetangi Beach Apartments where they have been gifted accommodation for two nights. Even the weather gods have come to the party. Well so far!

Today the family spent the day wining and dining around the Island. Stonyridge Vineyard hosted them for wine tasting this morning before they were due to have lunch at Charley Farleys. This evening the team at Oyster Inn will gift them a meal. Each of these gorgeous eateries, including Wai Kitchen, where they will dine tomorrow, have gone the extra mile. Siologa needs all his food processed. This posed as no problem for any of these fabulous people.

Thank you Waiheke for being so generous and looking after this special family. Siologa, Talie, Nufe and Roman, we wish you all a wonderful time together.
