Fulfilling the wishes of Palliative Care Patients

Mary Nicholls has a very loving daughter, Bridget.

Bridget was quite determined that her mother would get the opportunity to see the Gallipoli Exhibition in Wellington before it closed.

Mary is 70 years old and is suffering from Lung Cancer. Although Mary walks with a walker she is single-minded and quite open to the idea of going to Wellington.

After a few calls we have a fabulous few days planned for Mary and Bridget in Wellington.

Hamilton Taxis have agreed to take the ladies to the airport on the morning of 19 th March so that they can catch their 9.50 plane to Wellington. Once in Wellington they will be greeted by Wellington Taxis and taken to their accommodation at Museum Hotel. The Owner, Steve Oakley, has gone out of his way to cater for Mary and Bridget, even to the extent that Steven has liaised with Te Papa and organised a private viewing of the Gallipoli exhibition especially for Mary. Steven, who used to work for Weta Workshop, has also organised that Mary and Bridget visit the Peter Jackson Great War Exhibition at the Dominion Museum. The Unchem in Cuba Mall have kindly offered to lend Mary the use of a wheelchair while she is in Wellington and they have complimented this gesture with a gift basket that will be there to greet Mary on her arrival

This special time will be spent in some lovely eateries in Wellington, including Field & Green, Te Papa Café, Joe’s Garage and The Hippopotamus Restaurant.

On Monday 21 st after a scrummy buffet breakfast at the Museum Hotel, the ladies will be taken to the airport by Wellington Taxis, flown to Hamilton and picked up and taken by the Hamilton Taxis to their home in Dinsdale.
