Fulfilling the wishes of Palliative Care Patients

David Donahue, from Wellington, has cystic fibrosis and with this diagnosis, he lives on borrowed time. His condition requires him to spend many days a month in hospital, away from his wife Tessa and his 21 month old daughter Mya.

David’s special wish is to spend some special time with his wife Tessa doing a few things that he is still capable of doing.

David gave the nod to a “Christchurch Adventure “and tomorrow, this gorgeous young couple fly to the South. The Christchurch community have been extraordinarily generous and have embraced David and Tessa.

Fui Ching Chaing from the Airport Sudima Hotel has offered them an Executive Suite for three nights, with all meals included. Tim Hartnell of Proactive Drive, has provided a car, for their entire time in Christchurch. They have been gifted a whole host of activities during their stay including; Free Tram and Gondola rides, from Welcome Aboard Christchurch, passes to the International Antarctic Centre , and a trip to the Orana Wildlife Park.

Their time in Orana Park will be spent Giraffe feeding, Lion feeding, and enjoying the ambiance of the park, over lunch.

David loves golf and thanks to Aiden Berry from the Pegasus Golf course, he has been gifted a complimentary round of golf, including a golf cart and lunch at the Bunker Café and Bar.

The couple will enjoy dinner and some great live music at the Carlton Bar and Eatery, due to the kindness shown by Gareth Bull. Transport for the evening will be provided by Gerard Gibbs from Corporate Cabs, a loyal supporter of our cause.

David and Tessa were thrilled to be treated to a wonderful anniversary dinner at  the prestigious Hippopotamus Restaurant thanks to Laurent and Camille.

David and Tessa have a fantastic weekend in store, made all the more special by the fact that they will celebrate their first wedding anniversary on Monday.

We wish them a wonderful weekend!
