Fulfilling the wishes of Palliative Care Patients

Isolated from her family because of illness and circumstance, Cathy Grosvenor thought her wish to travel to New Plymouth for a family reunion was a pipe dream. That was of course until Cathy contacted the Race4Life Trust.

On Thursday Cathy, equipped with an oxygen converter from Invacare New Zealand and accompanied by caregiver, Vicki, headed south to reunite with her family. With a rental car from Hitch Car Rentals, groceries from the Helensville Countdown and the support of the New Plymouth community, Cathy will spend 4 days away, celebrating with family.

On arrival yesterday at the Fitzroy Beach Motel, Cathy was greeted by Brent the manager with a box of chocolates and a bunch of flowers. Cathy’s restricted mobility has limited her ability to dine out, so Picollo Morso donated food for lunches and the Bella Vita Italian restaurant are cooking a meal for the two ladies every evening during their stay and delivering it to their door!!!!

Cathy we wish you a very special time with your family
