Fulfilling the wishes of Palliative Care Patients

Brian Ivey is a delightful 75 year old gentleman from Hamilton with prostate cancer and a malignant neoplasm of the brain. As a youngster Brian loved his time spent with horses and this passion has remained with him all his life.

Upon hearing of the Race4Life Trust and its work, Brian contacted us, with a wish  to reconnect with horses, one last time before he dies. Gina Schick from Event Stars Stables heard of Brian’s special request and was keen to help.

Brian is travelling down to Windsor Park Stud early on Tuesday morning, 21st March, where Gina will meet him, he will watch some racehorses work, have a tour of the stables and meet some of the stallions and foals.

After this Gina will accompany him to Event Stars stables where he will have a chance to get up close and watch some horses learning to jump. If all goes well, Brian will get an opportunity to hop aboard and experience something he thought he never would again!

Brian’s morning will finish with a lunch gifted to him and his wife Ruth, by Abbey at Lily Pad Café.
