RACE 4 LIFE

Fulfilling the wishes of Palliative Care Patients

BRENDON

OMG Race4Life have had a little excitement lately in the form of Brendon Healey's wish.

Brendon is a 50 year old very courageous man with liver cancer. He contacted Race4LIfe with a wish earlier this week and he was duly contacted. His special wish was to have a ride in a helicopter and to spend a night in a flash hotel with a delicious dinner thrown in there somewhere!!
On contacting Helicopter pilot Richard Lane from Helitrips, it became apparent that the perfect opportuni
ty for a ride over Auckland city was in fact the following day ( Thursday this week).
Well, the adrenalin started pumping as we realised what needed to be done!! Ironically though this turned out to be one of the easiest wishes ever, to coordinate, only because of the amazing people we have here in Auckland.

Tony Elsmore and his team from Continental Car Services are simply brilliant. Every time without failure a car is available to us, even with half an hours notice. A beautiful Porsche Cayenne was donated on this occasion for the duration of the wish. The gorgeous Geoff Watson, volunteered to be Brendon's Chaffeur for the two days. Linda Steele from the Hilton Auckland organised a Delux room with a harbour view for Brendon and his partner Robin. This came with a beauitful breakfast in the FISH restaurant this morning. Miho Kodaira visited the lovely couple last night before dinner and provided a massage for Brendon. At 7,30 last night Brendon and Robin walked to the end of the Hilton driveway and stopped at White and Wongs for a gorgeous meal arranged by the lovely Sonya Chan.

After breakfast this morning Geoff picked up the well rested couple and took them for a Tiki Tour along the waterfront, stopping at the St Heliers Bar Bistro and cafe for a scrummy lunch. The Hip Group are so supportive of the work we do. They made a fuss of Brendon making sure he and Robin received the best service. After lunch this overwhelmed and grateful couple were taken home by Geoff.

Thank you Auckland you totally rock!!
