Fulfilling the wishes of Palliative Care Patients

Anaru Young was not supposed to have lived to have seen Christmas 2014. The thought of reaching his 30th birthday was simply not a reality. However despite all this, Anaru is alive and kicking and was more than ready to celebrate his 30th birthday, and with style! Anaru's wish was to take 4 of his family to Rotorua to celebrate this wonderful occasion.

The Rotorua community completely turned it on for Anaru and family. Below is the complete story of how this wonderful community came together to help Anaru's dream come true.

However a stunning act of kindness, in the meantime, enabled Anaru to travel to his destination. When approached to fill the family car with petrol, Gursharan Mann, from the Z PETROL STATION in Quay St Auckland, had a much bigger picture in mind. Gursharan donated 3 x $100 vouchers to not only fill the car with petrol, but to feed and water the family whilst in transit. The vouchers being redeemable at any Z station on route. Thank you Gursharan, for your incredible generosity.

The story continues.....

On arrival in Rotorua the family were welcomed to the MILLENIUM HOTEL by their host being Michele Weston. They were given two rooms and a beautiful breakfast each morning of their stay. Daniel Fisher of the ATRIUM RESTAURANT at RYDGES HOTEL hosted them for dinner the first night of their stay. "I had the time of my life" said Anaru.

After breakfast on Saturday morning the group made their way to the POLYNESIAN SPA where they had a relaxing soak in the geothermal facility. After being totally revitalized the team took off to RAINBOW SPRINGS. They were invited to have lunch at the WAIRERE CAFE before getting up close and personal with New Zealand Wildlife. At 5pm they walked across the car park to the SKYLINE ROTORUA. They began with a leisurely uphill Gondola ride enjoying extensive views of Rotorua.  At The top, the thrill of two rides on the luge awaited them, as did a delicious dinner at the STRATOSFARE RESTAURANT.

Next morning they were on route to AGROVENTURES where the family were gifted high octane rides at this thrilling adventure playground.

Before leaving for home, Tracey from CAPERS EPICUREAN CAFE hosted the family for a celebration lunch, including a surprise birthday cake.

Rotorua you totally rock. Anaru and his family had an absolute blast, living every moment to it's full.
